The Only Gay On The Estate?

“bold documentary….brilliantly moving”   Guardian
“tender”  Radio Times
“fascinating, sweet and faintly excruciating”  Time Out

During his teens, Michael Ogden lived in a neighbourhood – home of “Shameless” and the biggest council estate in Europe – where being gay was far from accepted. So he lived a double life – to the outside world he was a straight, teenage boy playing football with the lads and going out with local girls. But privately he was lusting after men not women.

Living in fear of his secret being exposed, Michael decided his distinctly camp best friend, David, would have to be shunted aside. So he attacked him for being gay.

16 years later Michael goes back to explore his past as a closeted teenager and find out what happened to David. But he quickly discovers there are issues in the present he needs to sort out too. He still hasn’t told his parents that he is gay or that his ‘flatmate’ of five years is actually his boyfriend.
