What’s My Body Worth?

“unique, darkly fascinating, well constructed and well worth a look”   Time Out
“an interesting ethical debate”   TV Times
“quirky, eye-opening quest”   Daily Mail

In this provocative film for the First Cut strand, journalist Storm Theunissen examines the reality of the body parts trade – by trying to sell every bit of her self that she legally can. The film charts Storm’s sometimes hilarious and painful journey as she prepares to sell everything from a lap-dance to her own eggs.

She heads to Hollywood, the market leader in egg-broking for IVF, where good looks and intelligence could net you $25,000 for your ‘donation’ and she explores the dark side of the body-part market, the trade in tissue from dead bodies, sold on to meet funeral costs. This being Hollywood, plastic surgeons are voracious buyers, using dead human tissue for collagen implants or even penis extensions.

With the UK hoping to solve a shortage of altruistic egg donors by tripling expenses payments to £750, this is a timely contribution to the debate.
